Come join us for this two week immersive dark art experience, featuring experimental sculpture, charcoal and mixed media paintings, performance art & a Dark Ambient Soundbath Event from Oct 4-18.
Raven Arbuckle is a 2S dark artist and myth making multi media artist and horror illustrator. Born in Zuni but hailing from the mountains of southern NM, she currently resides in Albuquerque.
Her work expands upon themes of exile sexuality, death, rebirth, and the intersection of the profane and the sacred, walking the knife between worlds of spiritual experience and psychological alchemy. This solo immersion features oil and charcoal works and experimental sculpture.
15% of the proceeds will be donated toward Bat conservation in the state of NM.
Show Statement
This small body of work marks a rebirth for me as an artist navigating my experience with being diagnosed schizoaffective, after taking a two-year hiatus during what I believed was the death of my practice. During this great depression, I stepped away from trying to make myself palatable enough for the market, especially in the contemporary native art world. My dark night of the soul spat me out and skinned me back. I met myself as an artist again and embraced the role of being an unholy attendant to my muse.
These pieces are directly taken from dreams, and other visions that are projections of the subconscious. They have to do with an internal process of psychological alchemy and rebirth, they are my advisors, my guides, a personal pantheon. As I invite them to sit with me, to feast on my flesh, to clean my bones and bury themselves in the soft earth my decay provided. I sing them up and carry them with me, body catacomb. Any exhibition is a tender altar, my work the offerings. Let them reflect, advise, disturb, love, converse. They are yours now. I would like to note that I am not trying to scare you, but if fear is inspired, I ask you to trace its contours and find its origin. I ask you to engage with curiosity and reflection.
In the words of Albion Moonlight, let me persuade the tender madness to take you.

DARK AMBIENT SOUNDBATH PRESENTS
October 10/12 Sunday:
Join us for another evening of Dark Ambient Sound Bath at Black Wall Gallery! For this event we will be immersed within the fine artistry by the phenomenal surreal-horror artist, Raven Arbuckle, doing their first solo art show with parallel theme. We are ecstatic to collaborate mediums to bring you an especially unique experience!
The theme for this experience is "Ouroboros" where we will explore the eternal cycle of death and rebirth, and the assimilation of opposites, embodying the totality or wholeness of the individual psyche and the continuous process of transformation. You will then be bathed in the sounds of live dark ambient and drone music to inspire your own unique journey. Many have had emotional responses, vivid visions, or bodily impulses.
